How to Prepare for a Stress-Free Move: 7 Things to Do Before Move Day
The Night Before You Pack a Box
The key to a stress-free move isn’t just what you do on move day—it’s what you do before it. Here’s how to stay three steps ahead of the chaos.
1. Inventory & Declutter (1 Week Out)
Before packing, decide what’s NOT going. Less stuff = faster load + cheaper move. Use our junk removal add-on to ditch the rest.
2. Confirm Parking & Elevators (5 Days Out)
Call your building to reserve elevator times and loading zones. We can provide Certificate of Insurance (COI) if required.
3. Start Pre-Packing (4 Days Out)
Pack everything you don’t use daily: books, off-season clothes, storage closets. Label boxes by room + priority.
4. Photograph Your Valuables (3 Days Out)
Snap quick pics of fragile or high-value items for peace of mind (and proof).
5. Label Everything (2 Days Out)
Use bold black markers. Don’t just write "kitchen." Write: "Kitchen - Top Drawer - Knives."
6. Final Day Prep (Night Before)
Unplug and defrost fridge
Tape drawers and cords
Create your essentials bag: charger, meds, ID, keys, TP
7. Morning Of: Let Us Handle It
We’ll show up early, walk through the space with you, wrap your furniture, load carefully, and confirm drop-off access before leaving.
